Public Speaking Competition

Campus Heats of the Public Speaking Competition are held at five Universities, namely, UNSW, USYD, UTS, UWS, UOW, as part of Young Engineers Australia, Sydney Division, Program. The competition is open to Student Members only and prizes for each Campus of 1st, 2nd and 3rd ($150, $100, $50) are offered.

Winners from each Campus Heat will move forward to the YEAS Public Speaking Finals and Awards Night to be held on Friday, September 12, at the Swiossotel in Sydney. Prizes awarded at the Finals are 1st, 2nd and 3rd ($750, $500, $250) - so you can see if you work on your talk you could win up to $900 !!

You pick your own topic. It is emphasised that the topic should be "engineering related" and should be presented in a way that is easily understood by a person with a non-engineering background.

It needs to be entertaining - remember this is not a lecture this is about how inventive you can be with your topic and content !!
